Welcome to The Home Educators’ Network, an inclusive group based in Hamilton, supporting home educators and homeschoolers in the Waikato District. We hope you will find this site helpful, regardless of whether you are a long-time home educator, a ‘newbie’ to home education/homeschooling or just someone interested in the idea of homeschooling and home education. This is a well established group: it was formed in late 1991, and became incorporated 1996.
Our aim is to provide information and support for home educators and homeschoolers of all creeds and philosophies through this site, newsletters, activities, and general networking among individual home educators and homeschool groups. We also have resources such as a library, telescope and microscope available for members to use.
Some aspects of The Home Educators’ Network are only available to members: the library and other resources, some activities such as SwimSafe, and subsidised activities. If you wish to join the group you will gain access to all of these. It is suggested that you read our constitution to understand exactly what our aims and rules are. Our group is a cooperative and members are encouraged to participate in helping run the organisation, plan an occasional activity, look after the library, write for or edit a newsletter - offering support to others in the group even in a small way.
Similarly, this website has a members’ page which is only accessible to members, who will be given a password. This page will have details of activities, and archives of newsletters.
